Nah, I am extemely satisfied with my EK gold. Almost 10k lbs tensile strength...X-ring O-rings...in fact, EK invented the O-ring chain technology. Good brand.
Even more important than a good chain, IMO, is a chain-breaker/rivet/press tool. If you're dumb lik.e me and cut your expensive gold chain one link too short, a good tool makes it really easy to fix. One of the best $90 I've spent. RK branded tool, but works with any clip or rivet type chain.

F4i the EK or RK will be fine. D.I.D. is the best I've ever used. Stretched the hell outta chains on my turbo busa until I hit on the D.I.D.s Then got 30K miles out of it with no probs.
As far as kits go, RK makes some with all the fixins ... can usually find them on e-bay pretty reasonably. Unless you're gonna race I'd stay away from the aluminum sprockets though. They wear well but when they do start to wear they go downhill very fast.
