my friend is a carpenter, and has no insurance, he went to the hospital because he got appendicitis.....he got a bill in the mail for $5,000. he gathered up all the money he could (wife and 2 little girls) and paid it all......thinking it was over and done with....turns out that was just the anethesiologist (sp?) bill. the hospital then sent the bill to him......$30,000 no insurance.

long story short, after meeting with the hospital and given his situation, he told them what he could afford for mothly payments etc etc....their "board" got together and decided to foot the bill, so he had to pay nothing more.

hey Woody, for breaking a collarbone you SHOULDNT have been in a sling!!! i broke my collarbone about 2yrs ago and they give you this thing......well, imagine wearing a backpack......but, remove the "pack" part on your back. you are left w/ just the straps. it is meant to pull your shoulder blades back to keep the collarbone aligned. i had to wear one for about 3 months EVERY day.

you spent 10k and didnt even get proper care apperantly. i hope all's well and you're feeling better.....besides that whole bill, lol.

how IS your collarbone now? they just put you in a sling? for how long?

you got a deal mang!

local boy crashed, taken to hospital for about 2 hours....30K...bam...

another feller...crashed and passed away...wife got slapped with 250K worth of hospital bills...how does that compute? i wonder what they did to his body at the hospital to warrant this!

You probably got charged for consults or some other doctor interpreting results from your MRI or X-rays. I wanted to be a doctor when I was a kid, but then I grew up and found out it's mostly just ONE BIG SCAM!

Just 10k$? I think our local life flight heli runs approx 35k. I'm not 100% on that.

I broke my collar bone at the dirt track. went to the ER and was toldit would take 5 hrs to be seen (fri&sat nights arewhen the Illegals go see the doctors for free and leave us the big bills)I told them I had insurance and would pay my bill unlike everyone else in there and by law they can't refuse service so I was told to wait it out..... A nurse finally came up to me and said your better off going home taking some pain killers and seeing your doctor in the morning, which I did and she was rightmy docgave me that sling that pins your shoulders back and a script for vicoden. No ER bill but still came to almost 12 hundo.

Our doctor bills are high cause we pay for the people that don't.
