I have no clue to what sidebyside is. There's a new worm going around call downandups.
Hey Hc. If your at home and have your 680i mobo box, can you post the dimensions. I forgot to bring my 780i box to I could find a shipping box and I have no clue to what size I need.

i can do that but its probably a little late for you now if you were at work or something. evga 680i box is 15.5 X 13 X 4 inches.
im going to try to swap out the optical drive tonight, i have a few laying around. The funny thing is i dont have a screwdriver anywhere in my apt, i took all my tools with me to my garage in dayton to work on the 954 so im going to have to see if i can just unplug it and plug one in out the side of the case or if i can borrow a screw driver from someone to get the current one out.

go to device manager and see if anything has a signal by it.
Then right click my computer. Click manage. Click the + next to something viewer. There should be 4 things there. You want to click on hardware one and program one. If there is a red circle X then thats usually what caused the problem. Also look for yellow ! marks. Those arnt always bad.

Go to control panel
click system
Go to the hardware tab
click device manager
right click and update or uninstall then re-install any drivers
that may be in question.
Even if there is not an "!" or an "x" it might help and it couldnt hurt.

Got my 780i shipped off, ordered those two Thermalright heatsinks (south bridge and mofset), two 22mg tubes of Artic Ceramique (its secret sauce in a syringe LOL), 2 sticks of Corsair XMS w/ fan, two 120mm adjustable fans. One to put on the Thermalright GTX 280 heatsink and the other on my radiator so I can have two adjustable fans.
I also found a 60mm fan in my "box O pc crap" to replace that cheapy fan on the north bridge heatsink. Blows a lot more air. I loves me some pc fab work. LOL
What sucks about the 780i north bride is there's another chip next to it (N200 or something) that is under the heatsink too. So pretty much every northbride aftermarket heatsink has too small of a base to cover both and the screw holes are in wacky posistions on the mobo. You'd have to get a copper plate to fit over each, then attach an aftermarket heatsink to that with compound in between. I'll probably water cool the northbridge since it will only take a few inches of tubing to reach it from my cpu block.
I'll post pics of my new setup once everything comes in.

Hc. Is your dvd drive connected with a SATA cord or EIDE cord?
