f3 troubles
Hey whats goin on everyone. i have a ? for you all that i just can't seem to figure out.... on my 97 f3 when i crank it over she is getin spark but won't fire up.... and it floods.... i replaced the plugs, and fuel filter...... do you all think that the needle valves in the carbs could be worn out and filling up with gas, which is the reason its flooding....? thanks in advance....
Was the bike layed down recently? When did this problem start?
Try this, remove all the plugs, dry them and leave them out. Crank the bike every 5-10 minutes. (keep a battery charger handy).
See if you get any backfire. Sounds like it's just flooded to me. Probably didn't need to chnage the plugs, but too late now. It will dry up eventually. Just have too much fuel in your combusion chamber

ya i tried waitin i tried all off the simple things... i pull started it the other night to get all the carbon build up off the plugs and it ran fine once it started but after it sat a few hours then it wouldn't start again, and did the same thing and no it hasn't been down since a few months ago......
Ok take all the plugs out. Not 2 of them or 3... all 4. Its a pain I know. Clean them all off with either. Take a plug and hook it up to one of the plug wires. Hold it on part or the engine. Crank it over and make sure it sparks. Do it will all the plugs then reinstall them. Crank the engine with the choke off and the throttle cracked. It should start. Even if its flooded if all the plugs are dry to start it will fire up. Might run like crap but keep it at a high idle or rev it a little bit. And if it doesnt start u have other problems. But this should do it.
what part of this are you all not geting..... the 1'st set of plugs were bad and messed up like you all are sayin.... ok i bought new 1's already and tried them too..... now i found the problem yesterday and fixed it..... so fyi if it ever happens to you.... what happened was 2 of the stator bolts backed out and was grounding out the stator and causeing it not to charge the batt. like it should therefor taking away enough juice to start it and me giving it gas at the start or the cranking is what was flooding it.... but thanks for you input anyways......
I understand believe me..... when you say it floods out but fires on all the plugs, it makes no sence. I have seen this problem and all it was was bad plugs. Thats why we recommend that. There was no way we could have known your stator bolts backed out. I just wanted to start from the basics then go from there. But I'm glad you got her going..
ya i did try the plugs that was the 1'st thing i tried..... then checked the fire...... when all that checked out then i had to start thinkin back to what happened the last time i rode it then went from there... but i am glad you had input.....
