Default Comprehensive Insurance?

Got my policy in the mail today and got to thinking... Right now I pay $1,100 a year for the comprehensive ($250 deductible). With a $1,000 ded. it would only drop the premium $230 a year... Well I paid $3,100 for my bike, do yal think it is even worth it to have comprehensive? I want it incase the bike is stolen, but what is the likely hood of the bike getting stolen in 3 years (comprehensive will pass the bikes cost)?

My luck I would cancel it and it would get stolen the next day[:@].
Just imagine how bad that would suck, kicking yourself later.....

Insurance is you betting something will happen to your bike & The Insurance company betting it won't.
Thats how they make their dough, most of the time they win the bet. But like the ad "I never leave home without it".
I really love reading the policy they give you, especially the parts where they won't cover your bike.
"Invasion, War or Rebellion", "Acts of terrorism, biological, chemical or nuclear weapons, Fallout & Contamination."
"Hey Honey, I think you should put off your ride till this afternoon, saw some Terriorists down at the shops and theres a big mushroom room cloud, rising over wots left of the city"
"Gosh darn, I was really hoping to clock up a few kays, before the fallout got here, roads probably full of rioters any how, damn that small print"

It wont drop that much with a $1000 ded., it will drop some, but not $800. Its worth having I think, because even if something does happen, you wont be paying for your next bike, and for the next 3 years you have the insurance, it will cover for it. It something that if you bike does happen to get stolen, the gut-wrenching feeling isnt quite as bad.

But, when you turn in the claim for your stolen bike, the insurance on your next bike will sky rocket from 1,100.00 a year to around 2000 in my guess. So either way, you're paying your insurance company the price of a new bike. Plus, they're only going to give you blue book cost of your bike. So as your bike gets older, you will get less from them.

It's all a scam to me. I only carry liability to cover what ever I hit. I'll fix my own bike and not finance repairs or next bike through an insurance company.

My bike has been paid off for months and I finally got off my butt and dropped the full coverage. Monthly insurance payment went from $78 to $82 once a year. Honda is always having sales for new bike with payments around $70. Yes, the interest rates will kill you, but what's the difference. You pay the $70 to the insurance company or a bike shop?

Imo higher deductible lower cost....dont leave you bike outside a mall etc and its not gonna get stolen too easy...the only place mine goes is in my garage and outside of very short stops....

Well I plan on riding my bike as primary transportation this summer. So dependin on my job it will be sitting in a parking lot during work (all parking lots either have camera's or I can see the bike while there)...

i think what they charge for full coverage is crazy, i only have liability so im legal cause i checked to see how much full coverage would be for me and its almost 7000 a year thats just freakin rediculous, but i dont wanna tell u its not worth it and have u get rid of it and get ur bike stolen the next day cause then id feel guilty lol but i say keep it if u can afford it, i just cant
