Comprehensive coverage
Well im gonna be insuring and re-registering my bike this week or next week and i was wondering how many of you have comprehensive coverage or think that its worth it? Without comprehensive ive been quoted from $150-250 per year depending on the company and with comprehensive ive been quoted from 800-1000 per year. The bike is garaged and i really cant think of situations where it can be stolen or vandalized. If i have it parked on the street when im at work is the only time it might be knocked over or someone might be a jackass and do something stupid, it wouldnt get stolen though. So im not sure if any damage resulting from something stupid like that would be worth the extra 600+ dollars a year since the cost of fixing any of that damage would probably be less than that. Am i being naive/stupid about thinking i dont need comprehensive and that its not worth it for me?
i pay 70 bucks a year with no comprehensive. With comprehensive it was 900. so if something did happen unless it was major you could probably fix it for less. but its just up to you, what makes you feel comfortable
hmm i guess i posted this in sights n sounds by accident if a mod could move it to off topic for me thaaatd be great. And yeah odessa thats whats making me feel like it wouldnt be worth it so i was just wondering if any in a similar situation opted to not get comprehensive and not regretted it.

I think as with most full insurance , it is a case of risk and a roll of the dice to some degree ...
The best way to look at it really is that if you can afford it?? .....take it to be safe !! but if you are not able to pay for it without going through financial pain , then sometimes , the calculated risk does pay off ...
It is purely your choice mate ....
BTW ... I have never had full comp on my bikes and have totaled one many years ago that cost me over $2000 to fix ....

I pay $280 / year for comprehensive. I got it mostly because people suck and if my bike disappears while I'm somewhere, I want something. Law prolly won't give me their skin to hang on my wall so cash is an ok substitute
Sorta depends on the condition/age/value of the bike. My 98F3 ain't worth but "maybe" $3500. That's what I could replace it for. If I'm paying +$500/year for comprehensive, in 3 years, I'm 1/2-way to buying it again. On a $10,000 +08 CBR, I'm crying if anything happens to it, for at least the first 4 years. Sometimes, the hardest part is a honest estimate (despite all the clever things you've done to it) of what you're bike is worth. lol

yeah good point madhattr i wasnt thinking of it that way. I wish i could get comprehensive for that cheap damn. lll probably check with a few more companies then go with the cheapest one without comprehensive unless i can somehow get it for that low.
