Come on man!
I think you got it in one my friend

Sorry this happened to you, nice looking bike, but that draws attention from the wrong type, maybe a bike cover would help keep the *** holes off?
a cheap cover... no shiny stuff... no cbr 600rr (or f4i in your case) on it. generic from walmart is the way to go.
and kuroshio is right - alarms are a deterent - nothing else. it won't prevent anything

Do you guys think that it's a good idea to have a cinder block on each side of the bike (don't need it on the kickstand side, but for stability why not) with cable going through it, and around a peg? I was thinking about this for wind and if a drunk tried to knock your bike over it would make it that much harder. And they aren't going to put more effort into it than that.
Of course maybe cinder block is too light, but we made a retaining wall out of block that weighed 80 pounds each (if I remember correctly) and had holes just big enough to get cable through.
Thoughts?
edit: in an apartment scenario, of course it would have to be talked about with someone in charge, but lets disregard that for now

Yes get an alarm! I started a thread recently in which I tell that I caught someone sitting on my bike. I can't imagine what I would do it my bike was belly up (and I knew who did it). Get the SPY5000 alarm with the little pager and the proximity sensor). Other members here have it too. It's not even that expensive.
