I don't mean to make fun of folks in less than ideal situations on the regular like you bud, I just feel like you're not in the majority with your situation... It just seems like there's a lot of power-trippers out there who carry and that scares me. Anyway, don't mean to continually derail so I'll knock it off.

Oh, it's just me kidding with you :-) ... I like the idea of guns locked up in their cabinets and responsible people prepared to used them to defend their homes and families ... just not sure how I feel about a lot of people armed to the teeth while I am doing my shopping ... like I said, it's a different world here. There are just no guns in everyday life, people in the supermakets and the petrol station are not armed ... we generally don't have a fear of a gun being pulled on us.........

Just so you know those people opposite of the above, some of us like to call them criminals.

When I carry its a Taurus 24/7 9mm. I dont carry very often it just depends where I'm goin. Here in TX we dont need a permit to carry in our vehicles so I always have on in my truck and its a Rossi 462 wheel gun chambered in 357. Shooting a 357 with that small of a barrel flat out hurts so I keep .38 + p's in it. My home protection gun is my stainless steel Taurus 1911A1 and it is a wonderful firearm. I also have a Mossberg Maverick 12ga that I keep under the bed that the wife can handle if she needs to. I also have 2 dogs and their my 1st line of defense. They'd probably lick the bad guy to death but atleast they'll make a racket while their doin it.

were i live alot of peeps carry and for good reason, it scares me to death to think my awsome kids have to grow up here, i keep em in a private school cause public school here is a death sentance for cute little white kids, and my buisness is tied to this city so moving is not a option. we have learned to cope with it and just so its clear the good citizens that carry here , you will never see their guns, olny the one pulled on you at the gas station or mall. it has become a serious threat to good livin and i dont go out at nite exept for friday beer and pool with my bros. wifey olny shops during the daylight hours. we have a sayin ... its better to have and not need than to need and not have. oh yeah and welcome to Florida , palm trees and pistols.

Honestly, if the person doing the carrying is doing it legally and correctly, you would never know they had it. i carry a gun legally because of the people that dont.

In my neighborhood, those guys are referred to as the police. S&W .38 in the pocket, Mossberg next to the bed and the AK in the safe.

The state of Ohio now has 18,000 permits issued. In my county there are at least 3 places offering the CCW class. Thats about 30 new permits weekly plus the Ladies only class which varies in size weekly but they have a minimum of I think 7....... the classes are so popular that you have to be put on a waiting list, usually 2 to 3 weeks out depending on time of year. I think attitudes are changing. People are refusing to be the victim. And with this many permits out there, chances are, the lady beside you at the grocery store is packing, you just dont know it.
We recently had an issue in our town with illegal aliens. They chased a family down because they passed them on the highway (illegals were going really slow) They fired shots at them during the chase and they pulled into kroger so the family could run inside and call 911. The father was then surrounded by them and the leader kept demanding the one with the gun to shoot the father. A sherrifs deputy happened to be pulling into Kroger about that time and saw what was going on. (pure luck) and the illegals ran. They caught them and some went to jail and some got deported to mexico. Problem is that the house they lived in had a couple dozen living there and they didnt take kindly to someone deporting their friends. They found out who the family was and they started driving by the families house about every hour or so just to intimidate them. This went on for weeks.... The dad was scared to go to work and leave his family, scared to sleep at night.... All this was made very public. Add that to the problems that most people have already had with the illegals like following young girls around Wal mart and harassing them and people have started seeing the benefit of protecting themselves.

Taurus Millenium Pro 138BP-12 .380 carried randomly (or if there is concern, like visiting some of my friends in N. Philly)

And to answer "Why carry?", a quote from Alien vs Predator said it best
Same principle as a condom. I'd rather have one and not need it, then need it and not have one

I didn't expect such a great response to this hen I posted it! Like most others, I carry my pistol "just incase". I would rather be prepared then dead.

Mr_Santini - I just may take you up on that offer! You had me cracking up when you said "picture those large foam fingers" LoL

Rod38um - I agree, your Kimber is a beautiful pistol. My father had a Kimber all black .45 ACP that I shot a few rounds through. Very solid gun! A tad on the skinny side for my grip but one H-E-double hockey stick of a gun. He carried that thing on his side at all times. So much that when he passed unexectedly earlier this year he had it on his waist.
