Thank you. Thats my most recent gun purchase. Also my first 1911 style gun but after owning it.... it wont be my last. 1911's are just pure sex.... (once you've had one, you just cant keep your hands off them)

LOL, a very strange attraction.....

my current carry is a full size XD-45 by springfield armory. I LOVE THIS GUN!!! Looking to get a Kimber 1911 w/ 4 in barrel and crimson trace grips..

I have taken several courses with the local police departments because i originally was going to become one but didnt work out....

Heedly: to answer your question. I carry guns because i can, because our constitution gives us the right to. I personally hope i never have to use my gun(s) in order to take a life, but in that event it, would only be to preserve my own life or that of the people around me. A few years ago, i was on my way home from work, Mind you i live in Arizona where summers easily reach 115+ degrees. I was stopped at a light when i noticed a man leaning on a lightpole in dark sweat-like pants and a very heavy hoodie. (in 115 degree heat) i reached to make sure my doors were locked and at the same time removed my .45 from its holster and placed it in my lap at the ready. as i did that he began walking towards my truck reached for the door handle and began trying to enter with a veangeance. as he was shaking around i saw that his right front pocket of his hoodie was hanging lower that the other side(GUN!) i made the decision that if he managed to get in the door he wasnt surviving it. as i held the gun up he looked through the window and decided he would have better luck elsewhere. (all this took place in less than a minute)

I grew up in the midwest (kansas) and i was taught that it is more of a tool than anything. it isnt the guns that kill people its the people. Man has had many different and ingenius ways to kill each other for thousands of years, guns are just an upgrade from rocks.

As you can tell i feel very strongly about this, and have some research to do and will post back with that later as i have to go for now.

Now don't get me wrong, I've got 3 hand guns and 8 hunting rifles/shotguns back home and I'm all about the right to bear arms and hunting and what-have-you.. but to keep a loaded pistol on my person under almost any circumstance just seems to be inviting trouble. Now don't you all flame meh!!! I'm not trying to start an argument here!

p.s. That said, I do at least respect the fellas that do it the "right way" and register their firearms and take the CCW class if they're gonna try to carry a loaded weapon in public.

Oh noes, I have long come to understand that you guys either want them or need them and it's all in your constitution etc. but it is funny how you say you think it's silly then go on to list nearly a dozen guns you own ..lol

My take is this, it's not as simple as should we have them or not, it depends on the country, it obviously works in your country and is so established etc. but I do think here (UK) it might be a mistake, if you give lille ole me the right to bear a gun, fine ... but then you also give every scum bag and low life the same right here too, and I just know most of them would be trigger happy ... now, I also know the arguement that the criminals and low lifes can get guns anyway if they really want to, but the truth is the majority of low life trouble makers that roam the cities and streets here don't have them ... I can't imagine how things might go if we legally let them be armed ... I think if we were legally all allowed to carry guns here, there would simply be more shootings, from the stick up at the store to the jealous husband/wife fighting, too many people get emotional and react to things, road rage is another .... and, if there are more shootings then more people are going to die ... saying all that, I am talking about the UK and my opinion of it all here, not your side of the pond :-)

Nice to see someone else appreciate the ol' Ruger full frame 9mm. I picked my P89 up cheap have loved it ever since! Here in Wisconsin we don't get the luxury of CCW, seems to always get shot down. Might have a lil something to do with the crazy number of alcohol related issues we have LOL.

P.S. Crime and guns happens over here just like it does anywhere else. A bum/burglar on the street will still need to pay for any crimes they commit, if they would use a gun then they are just increasing their chance to be served with a life sentence or death.

Well I like to make a distinction between owning guns (I hunt deer and turkey with my step-dad) and having to carry them all around. I keep mine locked at home in a cabinet.

eazy chuck, not being silly , my steel shop is in the most blighted area in downtown, i keep my gun in my truck, i have had some very close calls with gangs, crack dealers and thieves, at the end of the day my kids WILL get to see their dad. I wish i lived in a better area where guns are not needed, but i am being realistic and times are tough. my wife carries a little 38, after the lady at walmart got carjacked and punched right in front of her. sad times, not silly people
