Jules...do you have regular problems when it comes to falling asleep? If so, what I would do is get a routine going. When I was in good shape, and had a good workout routine, I would try to get to sleep by about 9:00 or 9:30.Mynatural bedtime is about 11:00 or 12:00, but rest iscrucial to getting the best out of a workout, and is mandatory for general health reasons (IMO). I started an evening routine which included dinnerby a certain time, and aspot of chamomile tea just after that, and into bed by about 9:00 with a little TV for company. My body didn't respond for several weeks, but after some time had passed, it started to work. The routine told my body it was time for bed, and I started to become tired about thetimeI wanted. It is a conditioned response...Pavlov...his dogs...etc. I'm sure you understand.
When ever I can't sleep, I find that its just pointless staying in bed, so I get up & troll around the place, even go for the odd walk. I have found that drinking can actually have opposite effect & make you toss & turn. Although Im very fond of the 3 fingers of single malt cure myself, (actually Im very fond of that anytime) Lowering your body temp slightly, works well to, so throwing off the duna can be helpfull.
Hey Spirit - you mean the Steve McQueen movie or the whole, real, 24 hour, drawn out yawning saga ?
Just watching the cars go round and round and round and..........round................and zzzzzzzzzzz
he he
Single malt is good too Pacemaker, a Glenlivet or the like...........
Voodoo's right tho' - a set routine works well when the Pavlovian dogs are properly trained....

I know exactly what you're saying voodoo .. I was kinda the same when I was a lot fitter and was often in bed by 9:30pm!! .. I used to sleep soundly like a baby right through the night .. since not working for a while and losing my routine it's all changed ... for instance last week we were down by the coast and I spent most days strolling on the beach .. not much to some but being on my feet for long periods on the day really tires me out ... this week I am home and the weather is bad so have been stuck in most of the week ... often I need cat naps during the day too now .. usually by 7-8pm I can no longer stay awake so sleep ..but come to around 11pm often ...and can't get back off .. lately I have had feelings of anxiety too ..don't know why ..anyway the wine helpe last night ... weather is supposed to be picking up again next week so will try to be out side more ...
Jules
