Didnt He fall down and still get the gold why the American landed with one foot, which is better than falling down?

Dude, in gymnastics, younger is better. You are over the hill at 16, whereas peak is like 14. 13 or 14. Has something to do with body mass and gravity and whatever.

also to the poster who said she fell...she(He) only did the uneven bars, not the vault which you are likely talking about.
In gymnastics Younger is actually better, but not for mass/ center of gravity or the such.
Height helps marginnally because the shorter you are the less rotational inertia your body has to overcome.
The biggest issue though is flexibility... at 12 YO your bones haven't finished forming, and therefore are much more flexible than after puberty (16 YO)the additional flexibility does give younger gymnasts the ability to conpensate for technical errors with additional range of motion on their joints.
Also, in the olympics the rules are the rules. the very essence of the games is the "spirit of fair play in competition" and breaking the rules perverts and destroys that making it little more than a farce, a charade of what the games are supposed to be.
If we are going to allow them to break the age rule, then why not allow evryone else to dope on anabolics... same principle... rules are rules ...right? That's where the logic of "who has never broken a rule before" FAILS

+1 on most of what you've said WDR, but the only reason there has been any investigation of HE's age is because she's that good - would the same effort have gone into a 12/14 year old from someplace who wasn't in contention ? I doubt it. Karen Muir of SA broke the world 200M backstroke recod when under 14 years of age, and no-one complained.
I would say that the use of performance enhancing drugs should carry a lifetime ban - none of this pussyfooting around. Maybe then we'll have athletes who themselves are honest competitors.
I still think this is sour grapes

I watched the Olympics to a point. After I started seeing Chinese Athletes walking away with Gold's after seeing a sub par performance from them, but an amazing performance from other athletes who got 2, 3, etc.......I just stopped watching. You could even notice the sound of disagreement in the announcers voices on the televisions too.
What's the age of consent over there? Let's all take a trip and knock-up some 12 year olds.
