2 wrongs don't make a right. But the kid did learn his lesson. I remember being a kid and throwing water balloons at cars and I know I would not want to get shot with a cross bow lol. Looking back it was dumb but we were dumb kids having fun. At least we were smart enough not to throw rocks. What is our youth coming to? Our future is doomed

A water balloon could be laughed off...yeah it might scare the (use you own imagination for this word) out of me for a second but one swish of the wipers clears the windsheild. A rock on the other hand...someone is gonna pay for that & I'm in favor of it not being me!

I don't condone the crossbow. I've always been taught that "minimum force" is the way to resolve an issue.
HOWEVER, what if they threw a rock at someone on a motorcycle, and he or his passenger was/were severely injured or killed ?
What would our response be then ?
I carry a stungun when on my bike and you can bet that if some little bugger threw a rock at me he'd get a healthy taste of the good stuff at 50000 volts (just to subdue him until the Police can be called)
I can't condone retaliation, but I know what I'd do.............-

Given my position that the punishment should fit the crime (I've made drunk drivers work in the local hospital emergency treatment area every Friday and Saturday night, cleaning up blood and guts off the floor, listening to seriously injured people) I hope it taught them something.

I've made grafitti artists clean walls with scrubbing brushes within 2 miles of the City centre, and pay for all their own equipment, until the city engineer was happy.....

With kids like this, it's hard to say what's an appropriate "response" - perhaps working at minimum wage washing cars until they pay off the damage - perhaps then they'll have more respect for other peoples property.

We recently had a case where some kids from wealthy homes were going around BLOWING UP MAILBOXES with high powered fireworks - !!! They were apprehended by the police, and despite the parents being prepared to pay for all the damage, one owner of a $400US mailbox was not prepared to settle the matter - end result - one "boy" who was going into his Dad's law firm, will now have a criminal record, and won't ever be able to practice as a Lawyer. Am I sorry for him ?
Am I hell !!
He and his friends should have considered the result of their actions, and not run home to Daddy when the heat comes down. They were old enough to be driving around in (his) car, so they weren't children.............

For every action, there's a reaction. That's the way things work.
I hope the guy who threw the rocks at the car, gets better and spends many days washing cars.

Since Pete is here now!! , I certainly do rest my case for the Defense ... lolol

Well it depends on who is hanging out in them allot of the time ... and I see no reason to lock it as yet as long as the debate only reflects members attitude to this issue of deadly force ... which I feel is quite relevant today ..

....
Lol Steve you jumped in with both hands and a foot swinging so noo way in hell was I gonna deprive you of your entertainment lockin the thread... or get in the way of one of the swings

Still think the anonymous William Tell deserves a attaboy for a hell of a shot... right before he gets the assault with a deadly weapon conviction. Safe bet the kid isn't facing charges simply because the law figures he was punished enough already.

the first thought I had after reading the comments from this thread were actually me being suprised it had/has gone this long and has not been locked up. now being on topic i have a thought for a few things. the first being that of course the kids were not smart on throwing rocks at cars. I would definitely whip my kids **** for that. Secondly I do not find it funny that the kid got shot with a crossbow or w/e it was. I honestly hope they find out who the person was that shot the kid. I do agree that bc the poor kid got shot, I feel he got his punishment out of the deal, but the "shooter" lol, should be punished severely. thats just crazy to even think that was a smart idea. who ever the person is definitely needs a reality check.

If it stays civilised and is a topic which has merit, I see no reason to bin it.
However, if a thread starts to get personal, or peeps can't control their responses, then it'll get the hammer for sure.
