Bought a new car...

Currently diesel costs £1.38 and petrol is £1.30.
That translates to $2.17 , $2.05
The mpg is rated at 68 miles per gallon.
Forgive me if I offend, but certainly my image of the states is (when it comes to vehicles) that most people drive around in big 3 or 4 litre trucks?? I mean, this is an image painted by television so I'm probably wrong?

America has this notion that "big is safe" and it's really hard to shake. Especially when the largest part of our economy is helping feed us the idea. Then you have all the smug in California from the hybrids - which is no easier on the environment. In all reality the average commuter could take a lesson from overseas.
With that said, nice car. I'm pretty surprised with Ford's lineup these past couple years and the Focus is no exception.

Cheers. I'm currently driving a 1.6 diesel Peugeot, and that does 89 mpg! It's slow as your granny getting out of bed but when I'm doing 1500 miles a week, I don't care how quickly I get there, I just want to get there as cheaply as I can.
Having said that, it's about time unchanged hence ordering the focus, and I'm genuinely quite excited to get it.
And wow! Can't believe how big your cars are!
Pretty much the biggest car you can get over here is a 3.5 litre range rover and even that's not that common, probably 1 in every 500 cars is a range rover. 90% our our cars are little hot hatches under 2litres.
