What isn't mentioned in this article, but was in the initital report is:

NOW PAY ATTENTION HERE..LADIES...

A witness, we'll call her GOOD SAMARITAN for easy reference, who was simply a lady, in her car, waiting at a nearby light,
saw what had occured. between the offending cop car and the offending motorcycle.

The woman/passenger, thrown from the bike, after said collision,
landed in a a nearby gas station parking lot.

The witness, (GOOD SAMARITAN) in her car, proceeded after the light change, and drove into the nearby gas station parking lot,
and used her car first to shield and protect the now UNCONCIOUS passenger and vicitm from further injury.

About this time, the cop in his patrol car, who had hit the motorcycle, pulled up.

The lady, (GOOD SAMARITAN) rolled down her car window and asked the officer if she could be of any help.

The officer, remember, the one who rammed the bike, the same one who had just pulled up, basically cussed the woman
out and told her to quote..."Shut up and go the hell home!!!!". End quote.

As the GOOD SAMARITAN was leaving, she saw the ramming officer dragging the unconcious girl thrown from the bike, by
her hair, telling her how "stupid she is"...and "why did you do that?"..."Now you might Die!!!"

Like I said, beeen following this case for a month or two now.

Interesting...to say the least.

No...the video shown is grainy...and does not even tell half of what went on in this incident.

I live within 50 miles of Watauga, so I have been following the nearly every day, blow by blow accounts, from the local
papers.

That video shows nothing.

If all the evidence in this case were that video, then nothing more than a 5 sentence police blotter mention would
be occuring.

For instance, if the local paper didn't have an eye witness, the whole story might go something like:
On such and such date...in the **** block of ****...

Motorcyclist fleed police and coillided with a patrol car. The rider and passenger were taken to a local hospital
with serious injuries. No comment or status of the incident or the injured was available at press time.
Then the story would have been forgotten and everything buried.

Wow this is really going to help our reputation huh?
Granted the motorcycle should have stopped but I thought common sense would have prevailed. Crown vic vs motorcycle no chance but what else can be said the video is pretty much self explanatory.
My city has a kind of broad chase policy and we respect it. We initiate few pursuits and engage only when needed. The way I combat the sport bikes that run espically the ones that run from the guys that work at night is I stop sport bikes during the day for what I call simple infractions like no or improper eye protection, improper dislay of tag, and such. I explain the reason for the stop to the operator and explain that a lot of motorcycles have been running from us. I then issue the driver a warning for the stop and take a description of the driver and motorcycle and explain that I hold these descriptions to compare to descriptions of the ones that run. Seems to be working pretty well and I have actually established a few friendships from the stops. I think most riders understand my concern.
Most cops that I know won't chase sport bikes. It is kind of pointless. Our crown vics are governed at 115 or 117 mph and my Harley is even slower lol.
Well me personally I don't think that the cop that started the pursuit should have been suspended over the accident ( the accident itself), I don't think that he did anything wrong. If the department has a policy against pursuits then he should have been suspended.
I see a lot of people with FTP posts all I ask is don't judge the whole from the actions of a few.

i don't think the officer was in the right. he could have waited for the motorcyclist to go by, and then take up the chase, or gone ahead and pulled down the road with his lights off or on. the officer could have gone ahead with his lights and siren on to clear the road. thats "protecting" right? part of his job is warning those that could be hurt, not simply violently stopping the offending motorcyclist. if someone was shooting at them, they would tell civilians around them to get down i'm sure. and then you wax the guy. he didn't protect those people in his district, he endangered them through his inaction.

I don't personally.

There are good and bad people in all walks of life, countries, cities, races, religions, etc.

That's my philosphy anyway.

It all comes down to the 2 R's.

Respect and Responsibility.

I will. Didn't have the chance to look in today's papers...(Monday's are kind of early in, late out where I work.)

I'll check here in a bit to see.

I'm definitely going to follow this to it's conclusion.

When I know, you'll know.

Nothing into today's printed papers that I personally receive.

A quick search found the following at the Dallas Moning News...
Watauga Public Safety Chief Rande Benjamin on Friday denied any wrongdoing by his department after the release of a police dash-cam video showed one of his officers colliding with a motorcycle he was chasing. The Aug. 25 collision injured the motorcycle driver, Derek Muzquiz, 25, and his passenger, Cynthia Arredondo, 31, of Fort Worth. Mr. Muzquiz spent a week in the hospital. Ms. Arredondo remains in a Tarrant County rehabilitation center recovering from severe head trauma.

[/align] Officer William Allen has been identified as the officer who swerved into the motorcycle. He was suspended for 60 days after the crash for violating department policy. Another officer at the scene, who has not been identified, was suspended for 15 days by Chief Benjamin.
The two sections I emboldened show a real lack of anything remotely intelligent and is about as contradictory as anything gets.

Let's see..."no wrongdoing"...but "officer suspended for violating departmnt policy"...

Wow, that makes a whole lot of f******n sense.

Chief Benjamin declined to comment about the video, saying the city has been notified that a lawsuit may be forthcoming.
"There is nothing to cover up here," Chief Benjamin said. "There's nothing criminal here as far as we know. No one from the DA's office or the state [Texas] Rangers have contacted me."
Let the good times roll!

Different video?

This is supposedly from some one who works at the department

First one shows...no reason to even begin the chase in the first place.

http://cbs11tv.com/video/?id=23121@ktvt.dayport.com

Second one is same

http://cbs11tv.com/video/?id=23122@ktvt.dayport.com

Quote from other forum:
My friend actually works at the same police department. Here is the actual chase video. He agreed it was totally unnecessary. The passenger got f**** up pretty bad, she was the one laying in the street. The driver bounced off the car and tried getting up and running. The officer that swerved and hit the bike is back at work,
