The beer thread
ORIGINAL: jfunkRR
Blue Moon is a wheat based beer, unfiltered. It's similar to any white style belgian ale. Hefeweizen is the term, I believe.
It also used to be a micro-brew (I think) when it first came out, then Coors bought it. So I stopped drinking it cause Coors sucks.
Um, I wanted to add these in here: Olde Burnside Brewery in East Hartford, CT, makes a beer called "Ten Penny Ale" Great stuff but hard to find outside CT I'd reckon. They also recently started putting out a porter called Dirty Penny, and this stuff is better than Ten Penny. The only place I found it is at the Uconn games, fresh out of the trailer tap thing. Tomorrow I am going to Uconn's last game vs Pitt, and I'm gonna kill it cause I don't know if I'll be able to find this beer at all over the winter. Select bars have Ten Penny on tap, but none have Dirty Penny that I have seen... Oh man, it's so good at the games, it doesn't even cross any boundary line, hell it barely goes thru two intersections... can't wait... kick off is at noon...

I think we could just ziploc bag, then bubble wrap each bottle, then pad the inside with a ton of balled up newspaper. UPS Or FexEx should be used. Not USPS. Shipping beer without a license is illegal, and the government frowns on it...and USPS sucks.
J, can you get Great Lakes in Conneticut? If not, I have the perfect first beer for you...
Wait, if it's illegal, why are we going to do it openly? PM me.
I WILL NOT SHIP BEER.
Don't forget to PM me...

Your In Ohio right? I'd love you forever if you'd send me some Yuengling and Lienenkugels Red.... (see previous Homer gif)
I have not seen Great Lakes here. I can start you with Ten Penny, but it may only come in growlers. Also, you get Berkshire Brewing Company out there? Steel Rail Pale Ale... yum

Yuengling and Leinenkugel's Red shoudn't be a problem to get.
I like a lot of APA's, so Steel Rail sounds really good.
What do you think of Magic Hat? Their stuff gets out here, but it seems a bit trendy and possibly more about the marketing, and the turnover isn't always good. Do they have some solid offerings? No 9 is a pretty good fruit beer IMO.
Also, I'm a big fan of dogfish head. Do you see a lot of that out there? I have a solid list of them that I need to get a hold of...
Here's some trading tips from one of the guys on beer advocate: http://bagoliathsnewtradertips.blogspot.com/
I've never traded, but lots of the beer heads On BA and Ratebeer do.

Dirty Penny is supposed to be a black and tan. In Akron (just 8 miles from my work) is a micro called Hoppin Frog that makes great stuff, including a killer black and tan.
...we gotta get some other guys here involved. There's so much **** (especially on the west coast) that I want to try.

That is a pretty good list Ebinz. I am not a fan of the Nut Brown as a full time beer (more like an occassional treat or with the right meal). You are not too arrogant to admit to drining cheap beers, too.
My partial list in no particular order:
Mirror Pond Pale Ale
Alaskan Amber
Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale (YAY Christmas Beer)
Cinder Cone Red
Jubilale
Sam Adams
McTarnahans
Bridgeport IPA
Rogue Dead Guy Ale
Asahi
Sapporo
Coors
Nyquil
Rubbing Alchohol
