My Uncle used to ride with his Dachshund on the tank of his Honda Shadow. he cut a shower mat (with all the suction cups on the bottom) and cut it to shape for the tank. the dog would wear a standard leash type harness with a tight leash to the handlebars, couldn't go very far and he LOVED it.
