i am a tech at a chevy dealer i looked up the information for you and it does not tell me where the thrust bearing goes. some engines have them on the front and rear main bearings some have them only in the center any parts store should tell you or you should be able to buy them as a kit. with all the main bearings and the thrust bearings should be included. the thrust bearings are prety obvious because they should have a huge shoulder on them. if you do have any more questions pleas feel free to pm me, if you need any service info i can fax it to you if you have a fax machine sorry i cant post a link the site is password protected and i could get in big trouble for sending it to you.

dont buy bearings until you find out if you have to have your crank turned first though right?

right there is no reason to buy bearings and then have to return them or get stuck with them if your crank is a different size. if you do have to have your crank turned then you should get the bearings from the place that turned your crank, so that you get the correct size.

Still havent heard from them. I'll try to call them tomorrow. I have to go out of town on a job site all day. They're suppose to be thrust washers. LOL I guess its a typo on his site.

Thats the reason I dropped it off for them to look at. For them to tell me what I need. I get payed every week so once I find out what needs to be done, I'll have the block/crank done first, then a week or two later I'll get the head done (if need be).

What exactly is a 3 angle valve job? I know a regular head job is replaced the valve seals and valves/springs (maybe).

when they do a three angle valve job they cut the valve seats at a 15,30, and a45 degre angle it helps direct air flow around the valve seat. its prety standard at most machine shops but your engine came from the factory with a 2 angle valve job 15,45degres. depending on what went wrong with the engine and how many miles are on it this may or may not be nessecary. if your doing a complete rebuild you may as well go ahead with it but if your just looking to get your car back on the road skip it, if the valves are sealing fine against the seats. new valve seals are a good idea though since you already have the head off. normally the valve springs are ok but the shop should be able to check height to tell you if they are or not. if you can take the springs off yourself the free height should be 1.45" and 1.24" with 25lbs of weight applied. my guess is that your springs are ok they usually are.
