I like biker buildoff also. Did anybody see that one where the ex-sportbike racer built that chopper that had the look of a sportsbike. The frame was exactly like the gixxer1000. Now, thats somethin i wouldnt mind buildin. I used to do a lil welding in high school, its not to hard if u practice at it. Only really takes a lil bit of time to make a nice strong bead...the only hard part for me was seein where to start under them dark *** masks lol

Telgren...I like your analogy, it got me chuckling! The ex-sport bike guy is Roland Sands, and he has a unique perspective. Check out this link to his bikes, they are a mish mash of cruisers and sportbikes...pretty cool. Click on the "bikes" tab when you get there. You may have to haveFlash 8 to see what's up.

I just wonder how you ride those ape hanging suns-a-bitches.
I followed behind a guy with huge ape-hangers last summer when I was in my cage. I thought it was VERY entertaining. He was on the highway and had been for at least several miles as we were several miles from the nearest entrance. Anyway, the funny part was -- He couldn't keep both hands on the grips at the same time. It was so uncomfortable for him, that he would have to gas it and ride with his right hand for about 30 seconds, then switch hands and coast and ride with his left hand. He did this for the entire time I followed him.

So much for a bar hopper actually riding on the road.

I own a chopper, and it is definitley a differant ride from my crotch rocket/bullet bike.

As to people's opinions on helmets: I don't wear one on the chopper, mainly because I haven't found one that fits/works for the style of the bike. As for the burner, it depends on where and how I'll be riding as to whether I wear a helmet. They make riding googles/glasses for a reason, and a decent pair (polarizedtransition lenses) are a bit pricey bit worth it.
It's all personal preferance for me; helmets. HOW they makes someone a "squid" is beyond me. I say a squid is someone who labels someone who has a differant POV about safety/riding style/acceptable riding whether/etc. as a squid. Wait, does that make me a squid? DAMNIT!!!
