Almost died today.
I too was rear ended, by a tractor trailer at a red light. Luckily he was not coming fast and I was in my old Ford Exploder. Old trucks can take a beating.
+1 on flashing tail light
+1 looking back
+1 having a way out

perfect reason to have those rear view mirrors, I would hate to b rear ended on my bike.
Something i do at the light is try and get as close between two lanes without actually stepping on the line, ive seen that the careless drivers that notice theres a bike at the light notice last second, that being said they can swerve to one side (atleast pray that their smart enough to swerve)

Yep, rear-ends are a HUGE problem for us riders.
On my way to work I had a truck and trailer nearly demolish me recently. Fortunately, I always leave just enough room in front of me to escape (which I did, thank god). Heard his brakes lock up and thought...ohhhhh snapples.
Just be cautious, in traffic keep your eyes on your mirrors as well, and always...
always...
ALWAYS HAVE AN OUT.

Another rider has been killed here last night. This Is my first real riding season and the first time I'm following the amount of local riders being killed. This Is really a shame...
