Default Aftermarket Decal Protection

I just recently bought an aftermarket decal for my bike. Unfortunately, before I bought it I didn't think to ask the seller how well it would deal with the heat, seeing as how the summer months are on the horizon. The decal is on top of the clear coat so it's basically like a sticker.

The decal is placed on the lower fairing right near the venting for the engine. I'm worried that with the engine heat and the summer months that the decal will peel off and I will lose all my money.

I was wondering if there was any sort of clear spray or applicant that can be applied on top of the decal to keep it from fraying at the edges or becoming unstuck. Any ideas? Is it something I can take somewhere and they can do something to it? Thanks!

Can you ask the seller now about the heat? And, are the decals designed for motorcycles in mind or are these generic?

I tried contacting the seller but they don't leave a phone number on their website and when I've tried emailing them but I don't get a reply. I would have assumed that they are for motorcycles seeing as how they sell motorcycle accessories. It's the buyer's (me) fault for not looking into it more.

that heat usually isnt enough to affect anything. The vinyl the decals are made from is pretty heat resistant. The heat you need to be concerned with though is exhaust heat. A lot of aftermarket farings do not protect the lower fairing enough from the header and midpipe heat since the exhaust runs so close to the fairings. Make sure you have heat reflective tape on the inside of the fairing to keep the fairings from getting too hot. Some companies put some, but its usually not enough. I would be a good idea to go to the hardware store and buy some and do the entire backside of the lower fairing.

Make sure your applied area is free of debris/dirt, polishes, or body oils. After application, if its a quality decal, you can apply a coat or two of quality wax. That will protect it from above. If you want something more permanent, you can spray a coat of clear coat from a rattle-can, such as Dupli-Color.

You have the same ones from the same seller? Or same type of product?

My new aftermarket fairings didn't come with any heat shielding. However, I bought the stock foam from Honda and applied it to the backs of my fairing. Do you think that will be enough?

I am relieved to know that it won't be much of a problem. I'm not sure how it would come out if I were to apply a clear coat from a "rattle-can". Thanks for your help guys!

It depends on how good you are with a rattle can. I would recommend trying the coat of wax like suggested above
