Default Tank protection

I have an '06 1KRR and I need something to help keep it from getting scratched by my jacket and pants. I see tons of protectors like this:

That doesn't seem like much protection... what about the sides? Anyone have something more substantial?

Also, does anyone know if the ones listed for '04/'05 would work on the '06 for larger ones?

Sorry for the noob questions.

Tankslappers - almost invisisble and I have used them on the last 3 bikes I have had - come in 3 parts for the Blade - 1 on the front of the tank and 2 other bits - down either side.

They do not have adhesive but once on never shift or come away unless you want them to.

Great piece of kit at the tight price and don't look pig ugly like most tank protectors do.

.....EDIT - although I bet that carbon protector looks superb on Black bikes !!

Thanks everyone!

I think I might give one of the clear protector things a shot.

Looks like they have a 3M version (single use, with adhesive) and a tankslapper version (no adhesive, multiple use).
Which one have each of you had experience with?

Thanks for your inputs.

I've seen both adhesive and non-adhesive used. Both work pretty well.

I use the clear adhesive. It comes in big rolls and some templates to use to cut certain shapes. I've free-handed a couple that look pretty good. Doesn't cover the paint and you can put them wherever you want.
