If it's a modern hard wearing two pack paint it should be fine to polish it now but there's no harm waiting for a bit ... I use Meguiars on the bike and my car gets cheaper stuff, but do you know the important thing, it's not so much the polish as the regularity of polishing

Regular and careful polishing keeps your car nice and shiny, me like shiny!!

Use cloth baby diapers to wipe the wax off and polish it up. They work way better than micro fiber towels. 10 years of car detailing experience here....
