He even ran a part of the hot water loop through his hot water heater so during the colder months thats free too.

I think I can get a better price on pellets here than wood. I can get a ton of good burning pellets for under $200. It all depends if I can get a good deal on a pellet stove.

I don't know how it works in Connecticut but i know in Michigan if you get a state permit(I want to say its like 15-30 bucks) you can go on state land and chop down as much dead or fallen down tree's you want. Just a matter of time and effort which understandably not everyone has but if you can spare a few weekends might be worth it. Oh and having a truck helps lol

You want highly inflated prices?

Here in Portugal it's 1,52e the liter

1gallon=3,79liters

3,79x1,52= 5,76euro

5,76euro = 8,29Us

That's what I pay for 1gallon of gas!

ha ha ha

I'm right with you paid $115 ($3.55 gal) to fill up my F250 and it's almost camper season so my 14 mpg will be dropping to 10 mpg when I'm hooked up. Filling the bike up is a sigh of releaf.

It almost always cost me $11.50 to fill my civic and get a pack of camels. (camels were $1.28 but store brands were .99c)

This was 1996. I swear I'm not old!
Even though I was 8 I remember those gas prices.... spent $16 to fill up the cbr last friday.

Slick 6, I wish you the best, man.

I've been riding the KLR every day except for the really rainy days. Those days I take my wifes new Corolla S. What a huge difference from my Cherokee. The toy gets twice the gas mileage... literally.
I think I'm gonna sell both my jeeps and buy a subaru. lol..

Threads like this make me dislike driving a Tahoe hahahah.

But yeah I remember in Highschool (i'm about to turn 27) gas was under a buck. Super Tuesdays shell had 7 cents off midgrade hah

I remember hearing that here in the states, people are willing to pay $5.00/gallon before making any major changes. (driving much less, buying a more fuel efficient vehicle). We will find out soon enough, we are headed to $5.00/gallon this summer.

All I know, is that I'm installing a pellet stove for next winter. Oil heating bills suck.
Actually, the United States consuption has been in a steady decline since 07 is actually less than it was in 02. I would think that is a pretty significant change. Many people I know, including myself use much less gas than before. We don't go on vactions, we don't just run the store, we buy in bulk, carpool, my truck sits all the time now while I drive my car instead. I remember hearing " if it goes to 4.00 a gallon, we won't take it". well guess what.. we're taking it. It could go to 5.00 a gallon and nothing would change accept the economy would tank even more. So I don't know that its a willingness to pay. But more of a total economic meltdown could happen, and the oil companies don't want that, they just want all of the money they can get while just barely keeping the economy from crippling. You pull that much more money from the economy and put it in the oil companies pockets, things are going to happen, but not because we stand up for anything, our economy will fail.

Everytime the economy begins to show signs of recovery, the gas prices go way up, which brings it right back down. So many people are now doing without other things because they using their money for gas, the economy can't possibly recover. If every person in the US was dumping an extra 20-30 bucks a week into the economy by spending their money on other goods instead of unreasonable gas, the economy would turn around pretty quick.

I don't have any answers for the possibilty of us running out of oil. But this crap with speculators everytime some little thing happens that could disrupt oil, the prices go way up. Not when something is disrupted, but if it might. If its about shortages of oil in the futute, the prices wouldn't change.

ok, im just ranting now. Probably most of it based on emotion too. but it is extremely discouraging.
