Default Visiting member......

Hello guys, I am a bit of a fleeting visitor to the site as I usually frequent a ZX10R forum as I have two of them, one road and one prepped track bike, both the 2011 model. I have taken pity on a friend who has bought a CBR 600 FY MY 2000 with 22K on the clock for £1300. He has bought a bit of a dog which appears to have spent some wet time living outside. Cosmetically it is good, mechanically it has needed some serious TLC. Over the last 48 hours I have replaced his brakelines, fluid and put new pads in having unseized the rear caliper and severely cleaned the front calipers. I've stripped and gresed the suspension linkages which were OK really. The throttle push cable has corroded through (both will be replaced) and I have changed the oil and filter for him. Plugs and air filter will be done also. The most shocking thing was there was absolutley no fork oil in it, preload was fully wound in and the seals were fooked. The result was the front tyre has scrubbed flat not on the centre but immediately on the the sides as clearly the tyre has had to scrub to make up for there being no suspension!!! I have today fitted new seals for him and a new set of Pirelli Super Corsa's - what a difference it has made. I've cleaned up the chain which is remarkably ok and lubed up and freed up the clutch and choke cables. I am unsure whether the current routing of the throttle is correct, could anybody oblige me with a routing diagram or evening the appropriate workshop manual please. Nice to visit folks, looks like a tidy forum!!!

Welcome to our forum.

You are a good friend to do all that stuff for him. Kudos to you!
The manuals are downloadable, just gotta look around a bit.

Encourage your friend to join up too. There is a lot of info here that he will find educational.

Welcome - google "stephy gee manual" and you'll find someone hosting all of the Honda 600 shop manuals. You're looking for the F4 manual. F4i started in 2001.

Thanks for that buddy, just what I was looking for, all torque settings etc, thanks. Do you have the factory suspension settings by any chance, I don't have the handbook and it doesn't look like the service book holds them? Many thanks for your help.
