I have taken the PA motorcycle safety course and it is one of the best moves you can make as
a new rider. Passing the course will give you your license and when you buy your first bike tell
your insurance co. and they will give you a discount. I think its a no brainer. The training course
will start with the very basics and if you shouldnt be riding they will tell you. In the mean time practice riding a bicycle for balance and leaning.
About your first bike. It is easy to get cought up in what looks good but remember being new
to riding your 'new" bike may not look new for long. When i started riding in 1998 I was riding
a 1975 honda cb750 it was ugly but I was riding. I later stepped up to a 1979 cb 750. Finally
I purchased my 954. In that time I have gained a lot of knowledge including that my 954 is plenty fast enough for me. So start small as someone else said on this forum it would hurt a lot
less to drop a 1996 gs 500 than even a 2004 ninja 250. Just my opinion. Hope this helps you
and good luck.
