Stay away from the strip joints and the bars and you be riding before you know it. First bike? The F4i really does everything well, you'll be happy with your choice.

Parents are always worried about their kids... there's not much you can do to help ease it along. Best thing I can recommend is not give her a reason to worry, don't go speeding off, don't come back with stories about doing wheelies and/or how fast your bike went that day. Heck... if you can, get your mom into motorcycles. Pick her brain and find out what she would like as a bike. Hell, take her with you to take the MSF course. She may feel out of place and try to turn you down at first, but keep the pressure on and make sure she knows you want her to go and think she'd have fun. Since they provide the bikes and people of ALL skill levels are there, she won't be singled out. It's been my experience that the more you bring someone into something you love, the more they appreciate it themselves.

That... then get your mom to buy your old bike so you can buy a new one... That's what I did. Now she cruises around on the thing with my dad, back and forth from work, all over the place.

Ease her worries by taking the MSF and making gear a part of your investment. Lots of gear. Welcome!
