check the headlight and cluster harness, make sure it's connected well.

is the cluster lighting up now or still no and only the clock?

where did you connect the ground(-) jumper cable? if at the frame , then check your ground.

yeah, i jumped it across the battery terminals. could it be that the battery is fried? oh i forgot to mention that on the second time i jumped it, i left the cables on there for a little while longer. then i took off the cables. it ran for a few seconds then shut off.

so i looked at the service records for the bike, and it looks like the voltage regulator was changed august of last year. that's relatively new so odds are that it isnt that. im going to take the battery to advance auto parts tomorrow to get it tested. hopefully its just that. what else could it be if it isnt the battery? stator? how hard is it to change the stator yourself?

most likely it's the battery the F4i's dont last more then a few years most of the time. but it could just be a bad melted wire, it happens

just got back from the parts store and they said the battery should be fine. they said it held like 12 volts or something like that. should i just get it towed to a shop and get it looked at? and would anyone recommend against buying a used stator off ebay? how hard is it to change the stator yourself?
