Default Stalling

Hey guys I need a little help her I am getting close to selling a bike I only bought 2 weeks ago and I really want to keep it. Since buying my Honda 1998 CBR 250R Hurricane I have spent a bit on repairs. I have had the Carbies cleaned out and synchronised as well as all those other things to do with a tune up and service.. The reason I took it to the mechanic was to fix the problem of stalling. It seems that after riding for about 20minuntes and pulling up to the lights, it just stalls. It sometimes has troubles starting and I have to jump start it and there has been many occaissions where I have to keep the revs up at the lights just to keep it from stalling. Is there anyone out there with a possible solution???

You idle if probably turned down to low, After riding for 20 minutes, you bike is warmed up and the idle will settle out. To reset the idle, there is a little *** on the left side of the bike that has a screw in the very center of it. Turn it (I believe) clockwise to turn up the RPM IDLE, Thats is probably whats wrong with it. As for the battery running dead, you probably just have a bad battery.

Anyways, Turn up the Idle

What does your bike idle at? And as for the starting problem... only jump a bike when you have to with a battery only... never have the car running when you jump start a bike. And I'll agree... batteries only last about 2 to 3 years when you take care of them. If you neglect them.... they wear out faster. Keep us posted on how it's going on the general tech section.

Oh... hello and welcome to the forum.

Thanks Daniel

I have tried that but everyone reccommends I turn it down to at leat 1400rpms because at 2000 it burns too much fuel. I think that you may be right about the battery- but I have tested it and it is running at 14V

Problem is soughted fellas. It seems that I was using the wrong fuel . Anyway I am not using that high OCTANE fuel anymore and just using regular unleaded (No more OPTIMAX!!!). I am going to buy a new battery too just in case I do have a bad battery- but I haven't had to jump start since changing fuel. Thanks guys I am once again a happy man.

Hello & Welcome!!

How's your battery doing? If you keep having to jump it, it's not holding a charge and you'll need a new one.
