Riding tips/tricks/hoopla...
Hey guys, how is everyone? Right now I'm A 0 TAY as long as this weather keeps up and I can get some p00p done on my bike.
I am a pretty new rider... You could probably technically call me a "squid" and it wouldnt really hurt my feelings. I know I'm not the only one though, and I was hoping some of you "tried and true" riders could throw some hints at us real quick... iff'n yuh got thuh time
I just have a few minor questions... you dont have to answer them, but please give the tips that have helped you be a safe, responsible rider. thanks for any replies.
1. Ive heard of "feathering" the clutch from a co-worker... what exactly is this and how do i perfect it? He said its when you downshift, rev it a bit, it helps it connect. So... clutch in> downshift > twistie the thing on the right towards me> let off the twistie thing> let clutch back out slow....?? that sound right?
2. I am VERY new to street riding... and I have a 600 rr that has been geared down... I have trouble smooothly shifting at ANY rev... when i let go of the clutch in my new gear the engine brakes quite a bit untill I get on the gas again... im sure its just because it's low geared... so im thinking... bit more gas... slower on the clutch....... So... is there a certain amount of throttle i should be giving it, or am I snapping the clutch out wrong? or both [:-]
3. What is YOUR hand position? right now im trying to experiment with 1-2-3 etc covering the levers and it feels a bit awkward at first, but i think im getting used to it... is this right/wrong/or does it really matter? I noticed with 2 on the front brake its a lot easier to finesse it and I avoid the initial snap of too-much-brakeitis....
thanks again for any replies... take it easy,
Chris
