Hello All,
I've owned my 600 1997 FV for over 25 years, but it has been under blankets in the garage since 2010, taking a backseat to my Fazer 1000. Anyway, I decided to bring it out of its dormant state and get it ready for some use this year. Its mostly ok, but I expected the carbs to be skanky after sitting for so long.
After some fighting, I got the carbs off and on the bench to find the float bowls and jets in reasonably clean order. This was not the case for one of the CV diaphragms, which has a small split. I purchased a carb repair kit, but the diaphragms aren't even close to the original required size, (see below) returned to flea bay vendor.
There are lots out there purporting to offer replacement diaphragms, and even some offering them c/w sliders (plastic T section flat side type), for now I've ordered a used one which appears to be original Honda / Keihin, but has anyone been able to fit new rubber to the plastic sliders, if so, how is it done? I've seen a few YouTube video's showing repair of earlier CBR600 carbs (alloy sliders) but not the later plastic type.
Regards to all and roll on the better weather.
