Unhappy Please help with shifter rose dust boots.

Hey guys, I needed to replace my left rear set on my 2006 F4i and I found that my dust boots for the ball joints on my shifter are completely shot and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to replace them it just doesn't look like rubber will fit over it can someone explain the process to me? Thank you (sorry I'm stupid)

Ive never personally replaced that part so i may be wrong but have u tried to lubricate it before putting it on/off, rubber bends a lot more than ud think sometimes

The problem is the metal rod coming off the ball joint I can't see how it would fit on.

are you absolutely sure that a rubber fits over it?
normally (for example a king pin) the rubber should go over the hinging part with a pin sticking out, which goes through the rubber.
But the bal side does not have a groove to hold a rubber....

I got the rubber parts from bike bandit using the rearset diagrams. Iboth the ball joint piece and rubber piece are sold separately so unfortunately its correct and this is why I'm so confused.

Maybe compare pictures of the original and what you have in your hands.
I can't really make up what I'm looking at exactly or what rubber you bought.
Often the pins have a thread, but this one seems to be pressed in.

Often the pins have a thread, but this one seems to be pressed in.
I have no idea either but they need to go together somehow because the dealer sells them both separately il update everyone once the parts arrive this weekend.
