Noob from the Bay Area- have questions about first purchase
Hi everyone
. after decades of wanting a bike, I finally get the opportunity. My background has been modifying twin turbo 3000gt's and stealths for almost 9 years now. I'm currently working on another motor swap for my stealth and possibly even larger turbos. My little brother is buying my vr4 from me which is allowing me the chance to finally get into bikes! I'm really excited.
I haven't actually purchased a bike yet, but have decided on getting a CBR F4i. I spoke to a local bike shop and the sales guy there agreed that it was a good first bike.
So, what should I look for when buying a motorcycle? What are things I should stay away from? Are there any quirks about the F4i I should be aware of? Anything I should replace right after the purchase?
Thanks!
Tri

Welcome to the forum, man. Bikes are a good time, that's for sure. They'll bite you harder and quicker than cars, though...
As far as known issues with the F4i, you may wanna ask over in the F4i section (or just look around a bit)
With any bike, you wanna be looking for signs of wreckage, title issues, etc. Same goes for leaks, smoke, engine noise, and general lack of maintenance. Also remember that shot tires, sprockets, chains, etc. will only add to the total price of getting a bike because you'll have to replace stuff right off the bat. I'd work that into negotiations if possible.
Otherwise, the F4i is a tough bike and highly recommended. Lower mileage the better, but even one that's well taken care of will last forever. You can usually get a pretty good feel for an owner who gives a chit about his bike and one who doesn't. I wish you luck, man.
