Try asking a local riding school if they have a van set up for bike transport; I know mine does and if I asked nicely & offered cash/greasy fry ups, they'd probably be pretty happy to help out.

Most of those guys are in it for the love of it rather than the money. The pay isn't great from what I've heard.

Ive managed to fix the gear problem. Just bent the shift lever back a little and tightened the clutch cable and all working fine. All i need now is to get a new clutch lever perch, and a small bit of paintwork to the headlight cowl and the bike is back as new!!!

Thanks for all your suggestions guys. Really helpful.

Hi b0wla,

Glad you seemed to be unhurt, don't be too gutted about the bike. It's easier and less painful to fix than you are.

If you've hit the back of another vehicle, you REALLY need to think about your stopping distance. Next time you might not be so lucky, especially with winter coming up, cold damp/wet roads ect.

If you can meet up/ride with Rick that would be great, he's a nice bloke, we've ridden together a couple of times and he's a very good experienced rider. You could learn a lot from him and maybe next time you're in that situation you'll save yourself and the bike.

Take care out there, remember, they really are out to get you !

Hi B0wla,
good to hear you are back on the road. Catch up with Butcherspencil as well she is a nice lass and a good rider too for someone still on L plates.

Give me a shout sometime (you have blocked PM messages) and we can meet for a ride if you want.

Butcherspencil came out on Sunday with a blackbird, my cbr, a 650 and we had a good time.

Hawkwind, cheers for your kind words - will have to meet again soon.

Rick

That's excellent news!

Rick and co were really friendly and really good sports about riding with a 125. We were only just out to the west of Leicester and parted company around Abbleby Magna.

I think the remembrance day ride will probably go ahead again next year if you're interested
