hmmmm... that's weird. I can see it, even in your quote. Maybe you'll be able to see this one.

Hilarious guys, but seriously. Back in 2008 I was looking for a 600 as my first bike so I joined the forum. Back then I knew nothing of riding and motorcycles in general. Long story short I ended up with a 93 Ex500. It needed a lot of work and the PO was basically gonna junk it. So with no previous knowledge and a garage full of tools I torn it all down to bare frame and slowly put it back together with the help of a Haynes manual and online forums. Took me 2 years to get it on the road, I learned plenty about how carbs work and lapping cylinder heads etc.. Been riding it ever since. This past fall I decided to upgrade to something a little bigger and modern.
So here I am with a newly purchased F4i. The bike has 40k miles on it and is modded more than I would have liked. But as with my old bike, it'll be a learning process and I'm looking forward to the experience.

I think we've taken the new guy's thread a bit off track...
I've forgotten more about this forum than you'll ever know, noobcakes.

And there's always a good reason why I'm in a thread.

That's really cool, man. Do you have any pics of the old EX restore? I'd like to see them.

Same goes for the F4i. Is it in pretty good shape? You said it was modded out?
F4is are good bikes and I'm sure you'll have fun with it.

I'll get some pics up in the morning. As for the F4i. It seems to be in good shape in terms of engine maintenance but I really know anything about semi modern sportbikes. I purchased based on the condition of the frame and other major items I deemed to be important. So I haven't really had a chance to open it up yet and snoop around. I test rode it and things looked to be in order. It turned over with ease, even the cold start. Something I wasn't used to coming from a carved bike. Brakes worked good, no front end wiggle. Shocks were responsive. Throttle response was good, all cables snapped back firmly. Forks were straight. Chain was fairly new looked well maintained. Tank was rust free, no visible fluid leaks anywhere.

Everything I know is self taught and haven't really spoken to anyone else with experience. I have no experience with the aftermarket. I was just happy to get my old bike up and running consistantly.

From what I can see and know about the bike it that it has the following mods.
-Power Commander
-Some type of Shorty exhaust, which is aimed directly in front of rear tire. Seemed odd to me but what do I know.
-Hid lows
-Some Type of Steering Dampener
-K&N Air filter
-Fiberglass Fairings all Around
-RK Sprocket, 520 Chain
-Removed Mirrors
-Flush mount front signals
-Undertail Integrated rear signals, looks like a line of 6 LEDs per side. Beneath brake lights.
