New member with pics of mine and the wife's bikes.
Hello there! I have been getting a lot of help on the CBR600F section so I figured it was time to introduce myself.
I have been riding bikes for about as long as I could hold one up. Got my first street bike (R6) in 2001, wrecked that one and custom built a Kawasaki ZX6R and more recently sold that one to buy the 2006 Honda CBR600RR pictured below with the wife on it.
Just recently bought the wife the below pictured CBR600F for a learner bike. She's been wrenching on it beside me for a few weeks now and we are close to having it road ready!

Thanks guys, and she's scheduled for a nicer bike next year after she learns to ride. As of now her only experience is about 10 minutes on a dirt bike and pulling mine into the garage last night (feet down with me holding the tail and watching her clutch hand like a HAWK)....

Nice RR. My wife likes to wrench as well. Pretty sweet deal isn't it? Nothing wrong with her learning on a baby 'cane. In fact, if she wants to stay with i4s, it's a good thing she's starting on a bike with that engine as opposed to parallel twin for example.

If you can find a CB250 near you, they are one of the best beginner bikes out there.
My daughter started out on one. Before she sold it my son started out on it.
The both took there road test on it as well. I miss it. I use to take it out when my daughter wasn't home. lol
That little 250 would go 70mph with me on it. With my daughter on it, gone!

I think older, heavier bikes are HARDER to learn on which I why I suggested swapping bikes. Parts availability for the (inevitable?) tip over is better on newer machinery. Brakes are better as well as suspension and engine power delivery. But....at the end of the day personal comfort gets the last word. If she's more comfortable ergonomically on the Baby Hurricane, then that's the better bike FOR HER. But clearly by looking at the photo, she may have a tough time on your 600RR.
FWIW- my wife made the decision to sell her 2013 CBR250R after taking my brand-new to-me 2006 CBR1000RR for a spin. I was on pins and needles considering her freshman-level experience. Biggest mistake I ever made!
She made a proposal for me to give her my 2002 CBR600F4i and I eventually said yes. I was thinking to keep that bike for the track. She didn't have as much of a smile when she returned from her first test ride. It's down for paintwork now, but should be back up in a couple days. I'm hoping her subsequent rides are fun experiences. And now that I've given this more thought (thanks to this thread) we're going to have a talk about how to make her next ride more fun. And NO, it's not going to be her taking my Fireblade!

I am still laboring through getting the 600F running right. I actually did consider teaching her on my bike, but for me it is a daily rider to work and back and not a recreational thing I can afford to have down for weeks at a time from wrecks and such lol.
I got her the 600F because it was very cheap and I wanted her to have something we could dust off and continue with if she spills it. If she gets comfortable and enjoys riding as much as I think she will we are going to upgrade her next year once she has some experience under her belt.
I really do appreciate that she is learning from helping me work on it. I think it means so much more when a rider actually understands what happens with they hit the throttle.
