Hi all!
My name is Nate and I ride a '01 F4i. Actually it's in repair right now so I can't ride atm To make a long story short, be aware of people that haul couches without tiedowns. Basically just have fairings and rearsets to replace and then it's ridable again.
I just noticed I don't have a lot of pics of my bike but here's when I first got it:
I'm glad that out of all fairings, this undertail survived.
This is where i'm at currently:
Progress is slow right now because of cash but it would've been worse without frame sliders. Best purchase for a bike IMO. Hope to update soon on the status of the bike. Oh yeah and a project I'm looking to do with this rebuild is a custom solo seat cowl.

Lol just call me "that other Nate"
So the couch torpedo, as Sprock puts it so well, was just that. I'm cruising in the fastlane, 70 in a 65, three cars ahead of me was a truck hauling a couch that wasn't tied down, tailgate down of course, and it pops out. The first car stops in the left shoulder and the car in front of me swerves to the right when he sees it and all I see is car, couch, car. A quick glance in my mirror shows headlights behind me, so not wanting to go through a windshield or sideswiping somebody I just took a deep breath and all I remember is seeing the sky for a split second and then rolling. Somehow I ended up on the grass on the right side of the highway with a minor concussion, a broken jaw, and a few scrapes under my jeans and between my jacket and gloves, not doing short gloves again. My helmet was well fitted but I basically faceplanted with so much force the chin-bar made contact.
I think the adrenaline pumping and the concussion messed with the pain because I didn't know my jaw was messed up. Couldn't figure out why I couldn't talk well. Luckily some great people stopped to help. An off-duty nurse checked me out and called my sister, a nice couple that rides harley's made sure the bike was turned off, and someone else called the ambulance in.
A few months with my mouth wired shut and eating Thanksgiving mashed potatoes through a straw sucked but I'm glad I made the habit of gear every time.
