New from Louisiana with pic of my bike.
This website is already helping me out. I had no idea about counter steer. I was basically using lean in and was always going wide. Then I went out and used the counter steer technique and sure enough my turning has improved quite a bit. I took it out on a good curvy road and could hold my speed in turns a lot better.
It was 70 degrees outside where I live today. Had to get out and ride. Look forward to spring even more now.

Well, first off you can forget about changing the clutch fluid because your bike has a cable clutch.
Second... if it were me I wouldn't worry about a brake fluid flush, either. If the brakes are working ok, I wouldn't **** with them.
As far as how much it will cost for a mechanic to look the bike over.... it all depends on the shop and what they say they check. If you have a friend who is familiar with bikes, I'd have him/her look it over with you. Also, I'd download a manual and have a look at the maintenance sections and get familiar with stuff. (HERE is a manual from my stash to download and check out)
On the oil... if it looks new and the previous owner says it is... I likely wouldn't worry about that, either. I'd make sure the level is correct, tho.
I'd say your main focus should be practice and/or an MSF course, as well as making sure you have the right gear to protect yourself.
