Default new here- trying to purchase 929

hello I am new in this forum and motorcycle. (i just received my license)
I am trying to buy a sport bike. However, I am only 5"6. I have read many sites and forum about lowering or changing the seat.

I am thinking about 2000 CBR 929. Can someone please link me a carbon seat that will lower 1"?
How much does lowering a bike cost?

thank you

This doesn't answer your question and I don't want to sound like an a-hole, but look to a less powerful bike than a 929 to start with. Your chances of getting hurt bad really go up with a bike like that as a starter. Even a newer 600 is way too much for most. This forum is full of stories about noobs getting hurt bad on a modern supersport bike. Your skills will improve much faster on a smaller bike and when you move up to a sportbike, you will be ready for it.

That is a pretty good deal, but I agree with fish that a 929 is a big bike to start with. I'm glad to see you plan on taking the advanced motorcycle course, but if the course is like in Jersey where you bring your own bike, if you don't have decent riding experience already, the course may be challenging. My $0.02. Be safe out there.

Thanks for at least considering NOT buying the 929 as a first bike. The other thing is, you will drop (or crash at low speed)your first bike andfairings are expensive. Almost everyone does it. An older and smaller bike will really be much more fun for the first year.

Read through this thread for some Newbie Mistake stories. They happen ALL THE TIME.

Hey man, goodluck on your purchase. That sounds like a pretty good deal. You can start on whatever bike you want. If your the type that is going to push limits right away you will get hurt no matter what bike you buy. People start on big bikes all the time without incident myself included. Have some self control and you will be fine. Ride like you want to ride again tommorow, not like you stole it.

Ride safe, invest in some good gear.
