Default New Guy (less D.J. Qualls, more Randy Marsh vibes)

Hi everyone, my name is Rollie & I'm a CBR addict, haha. All jokes aside, I've waited for the day to be able to join this wonderful community as a proud cbr owner. I've dreamt of owning a '99 600 F4 since elementary. Sadly the day almost came recently but the seller never responded to any messages. But what did come was the the next best thing. I am the new owner of a 1993 600 F2. Unfortunately not in a running state (sat for 6+ months). Supposedly it's 1 owner & original paint job with ~13k miles currently. This is my first bike. Never ridden anything more than 125cc dirt bikes ~10 yrs ago & pocket bikes & atv's as a kid. Very little info is available on the web about this color scheme & I've only seen 2 short vids on YT of this scheme (can't be only 3 people with this factory scheme) + lighter shade of purple under the black on the tank. Regardless, the purple sold it for me. If anyone can point me in the right direction on where to start, what to check or expect when least expecting, that would be swell. I do plan to get that '99 F4 in the future but for now let's get this baby back on the road.

Tree sap on the rear tire & fairings, need to figure how to remove it while svaing the paint (if possible)

Certainly looks a goodun, shame you say it’s a non-runner. What happens when you try to start her? What else is wrong?

Sorry for the late response, so what is happening is it's making a similar sound at the 13 min mark of this video
. The previous owner told me he got it running after rebuilding the carbs with a friend who has experience fixing bikes and did show me a few vids of it running. He advised it might need to be rebuilt again & it should work. I so far have changed the battery & it drained the battery after a few tries. I am trying to figure this out on my own while I wait for the Clymer manual to arrive sometime in the next 2 weeks. I am in the Miami area if anyone is willing to give to spots to find any parts or meet people who are down to ride with a new rider.

Welcome to the forum. Looks reasonable for her age. Nice to see another one being rescued.
Not sure that is the original paint, but looks quite nice. Try some WD 40 or equivalent on the sap, or indeed a bug remover gel.
Usual things... is the air filter clean / are you getting a spark? If so then, yeah carbs will be a thorough going over.
Plenty of threads of what to do on here. Be thorough, take you time and take plenty of pics.

Nice bike. For the sap removal, take a look at Goo Gone of Goof Off.

I finally got time to removing the carbs & have found this crystallized white
/yellowish substance in the first cylinder(Bad gas?). Also to note, I decided to check the quality of the engine oil to my disbelief, there was only a trickle of oil sitting at the bottom of the engine. Shows I have a bit too much trust that I didnt check for the most important thing. I have quite a bit of learning to do. Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Caveat emptor and all that.
Carbs on the whole not too bad from your pics. Make sure you follow the guide in here for cleaning.
Looks like you might have had a water leak into the port at some time in the past, the others look great.
Some gentle cleaning / vacuuming will be in order fingers crossed it has not entered the cylinder.
Clearly you need to change all of the fluids before progressing.

Default Not looking good

So got her running this Friday, ran for 2 minutes then shutoff when I tried pulling the throttle ( airbox missing filter). It drained the battery then I put it to charge. The next time I tried starting it, it made a loud screeching noise. Called a friend of a friend & he said the starter is stuck. Decided to take it apart to find this housing for this gear was broken and patched with an epoxy & looks like it finally snapped. Is this worth repairing or just find another engine. I ain't giving up on this bike. She's gonna get her second chance (4th+ owner I assume I am) at a new life. A life with respect & proper maintenance.
