Default My First Street Bike - 96 900RR - IN MY GARAGE!!!

Whats up all? Thats right, I just bought my first sportbike, a 1996 CBR 900RR Fireblade. I got a sweet deal, with 18,000 miles and in decent shape I talked him down to $2000. Plus for another $150 he gave me two helmets (HJC), and Joe Rocket jacket, pants, and gloves. The bike hasn't been washed in years and it needs a little TLC, but i'll take care of that. I'm so stoked! Alright, i'll talk to everyone later, peace.

wow, a 900rr for a first bike? Be careful man. That's a lotta power to learn on. My 600 is intimidating enough for me. Congrats though. Sounds like you got a good deal. Ride safe!

Pleas keep that thing under 6K (out of the powerband)for a few thousand miles until you get used to it. Be very veryverycareful with the rear brake, many people avoid using it altogether.

Other than that welcome to the site and check out a thread called 'newbie mistakes', it may help you avoid some dumb mistakes that we have made.

Yeah I know, probably shoulda got a 600 but I'm 6'3" and all the 600s I tried felt like my knees were up to my chin. I know 1996s lost a lot of weight from the previous year so its really not any heavier than an older 600, and it doesn't have any more horsepower than these new 600s which rich kids are getting as their first bikes, it just has more torque. Plus I've owned several dirt bikes so I think I can handle it. Trust me, I won't open it up till I become very familiar with it.
