may purchase 1997 CBR
Hey, looking at buying a 1997 CBR 900 RR and it's ABSOLUTELY beautiful. I'm not looking at attempting to race it, or street race it, or do wheelies, or be a total redneck. I have always wanted a nice CBR and I have the chance to buy one for cash and have no payments. I'm wondering what they go for - considering the age, but it only has 13,000 miles, new Bridgestone tires, a Micron slip-on, and it extremely clean. I have had 2 Harleys, I'm 32, and just plain-ole, want this bike. He is asking 4k or best offer. I feel like it's a little steep being a 1997, and am wondering what other people would sell/buy a 1997 CBR 900 RR for. any responses would be appreciated.
They vary a bit in price, but yeah... 4k sound a little steep, imo.
I'd check out what they're going for on craigslist and fleabay.... then check the bluebook and NADA values. You should be able to get a good idea of the going rates. You can also ask in the 900rr section for some guidance.
Then I'd look the bike over real well and shoot low.
This site helps for craigslist searches, btw...

I do see the early 2000's going for ~$4,000 but there isn't much drop off as you get into the 1990's when it comes to price. I'd try talking him down to $3,000.
