Default left me stranded

Hello, My name is Chris. I've just bought a 92 cbr600f2 as a project that some one else didn't want to finish. I don't know much about this bike, only what I've been told. To start off, I'm glad I found this forum. I hope I learn alot from everyone. I'm a Honda trained auto mechanic, so I'll know some of the basics. HAHA. All I know about this bike is that it is suppose to have high compression pistons, stage 3 jets, a racing clutch and shark skin racing plastic. The engine was said to be an F3. It's suppose to only have 4300 miles on it, but it will only run about 3 miles and then it shuts off, after warm up. It starts up again after I sit, impatently, for about 10 min. Please help.

Hey:

Welcome, does it have spark when it dies or is it more like a fuel problem, could be coils, carbs,
or ignition box? Just a few things, hows the battery and volt/reg, do the lights dim and brighten?
does it run better on choke? does it have an inline fuel filter? are you running on reserve or on?
Do you hear any vacuum leaks? Petcock or fuel cap could be plugged, if the tank can't vent it
won't go far before it dies. Good Luck, I hope this gets you started, and let us know if you find the
problem.

When it dies does it sputter and then die like running out of gas or does it just instantly cut off, like no spark.a little more detail please.

it just cuts off, like the ignition gets too hot and stops spark.

I found the problem. Bad gas shot the plugs. I think the engine has over heated once or twice. I found some burnt wire,(could have been the starting problem) New plugs, new gas, gone ridin. Thankx everyone for your help. Couldn't have done it without ya! pics soon.
