Default Intro again

Hi all, just want to do a intro again. Been a member since 08 but back in the cbr family. A little history...
Started on a 92 f2 back in the collage days. Then went to F4i, 98 gsxr750(track), rc51 , vfr800. Cb1000r, 14 s1000rr (track) and 18 s1000rr.

So during this Covid. Me and the kid picked up a 97 cbr600 F3 from a buddy older brother thats been sitting since year 2000 that only had 4000 miles on it.
he needs it gone and only paid $300. So thinking I can take the opportunity to show my 14 yr old how to work old bikes. Took about a month to finish. Rebuild the carbs. Fork oil and seal change, rear shock rebuilded (by a shop). Spark plugs and oil. Scored a new fuel tank on ebay and at the same time derusted the current tank. Fuel filter and hoses replaced....etc. My son did most of the work while I hold a beer LOL. But he did a great job. Even to a point of torqing all the bolts and scews to manual specs.
here are before and after pictures looks and ride like brand new now. Also reliving my youth.

Welcome! Thanks for the background and pics!

Nice that your son is so interested and willing to learn! I've got two girls who have learned everything from oil/filter changes to swapping out axles and steering pumps and, yeah, it's great to be able to stand back and let them to the "cold concrete crawl" on the garage floor! Lol!

Welcome back... nice bike. That's the same year and model of my wifes first F3. She put 6K miles on it during her first 6 months on it. Then it got stolen while we were staying in a hotel. Got it back in 4 days, but she got her heart set on a purple one and the rest is history. Beautiful bike and sounds like you guys had a great time together. Very cool.

Here it is being returned after being stolen.

Thanks guys. It sure brings back memories riding it.
doc, your girls will probably put some boys to shame LOL. Projects like this especially in time like these put our teenagers more grounded after there online learning. We are actually prepping his cbr250 for weekend club races. We are spoiled in northern cali
have 3 tracks nearby

dodirt, I see the old school DID exhaust. Thieves sucks!! Had my f4i stolen in San Francisco during dinner with the wife. Recovered after 2 months and insurance totaled it. Payed insurance for what its worth and turned it to track only.

great to be back. Theres something about the cbr’s. Maybe it was my first bike LOL. Now convincing the wife to let me get the RR-R LOL
