Default i'm rebuilding a bike

hi everybody --

i'm new to riding and new to the forum. i currently have a '93 honda cbr 600 f2 in the works. my friend crashed it and i'm rebuilding it back into health (hopefully). i've already done an engine transfer to a new frame and have bought a couple of things to get the bike running. everything works at the moment from what i've tested. the engine runs in neutral but i have a problem...

i pull the clutch lever and switch the bike into first gear (the bike is lifted off its rear tire to let it run freely). the engine just shifts into gear and runs the wheel. is it just a clutch problem that i need to replace the clutch/clutch basket? the bike has been sitting in his garage for the past couple of years and nothing has been checked in the meanwhile. the problem seems pretty mechanical since the only thing that connects the clutch lever to the clutch, is the clutch wire. i've looked online and nobody seems to have the same problem i am having. pulling the clutch doesn't even seem to affect the gear change.

It could be totally normal, bud. Even with the clutch in, those plates could still be grabbing a bit and turning the wheel... especially when cold (or after sitting a good while).
However, if on the ground with the brakes on, and the clutch in... it still does it (stalls)... then you got problems.

This is the reason why you should really hold the brake when shifting/starting in first. Even with the clutch in, the bike can lurch forward until the clutch frees up. A couple weeks ago, I came about 1/2" from crashing my other bike into my CBR by forgetting to brake, and starting it cold in first (with clutch in). Woke me up in a hurry...
With the rear wheel off the ground, there is no resistance to unstick the clutch.

By the way, Welcome to the forums!

here is some of the pictures to my rebuild. i know, some of my 'stands' aren't very conventional and are potentially dangerous for the bike...but i made do with what i had!

i'll be posting more later on when it's getting more complete.

hey again and thank you for the pics and update ... just something I noticed, your
wheel rims are bashed in ... please, under no circumstances try and bash them back
straight ...they have to be replaced, they are cast alloy and crack, even if the crack
is not visible they will be severely weakened and can be lethal...

Good luck!! :-)

Dang man that must of been some crash to bend the sub-frame like that! Good luck with the re-build! +1 on what Jules said about the rim! I'm also in the process of re-building my '95 F3 Btw, welcome to the forum and feel free to ask questions while you re-build!
