Default Hello from near Hull.

Hi All, just joined tonight will update profile etc later. I am Alan lee age 56, married self employed gardener and time served mechanic. I left school into the motor trade and my qualifications after apprenticeship got me into BAE systems as a aircraft fitter so I did 11 yrs there. I joined the Army reserve at age 17 1/2 and after 11 yrs service as a commando engineer and REME fitter I left after operational tour of Kosovo in 2000 just a I'm getting too old for this moment. I have 2 sons both grown up (finally) and they both work self employed gardening something I have always had a passion for and started after leaving BAE myself. I have always had motorbikes in my life from around 12 yr old and included Brit classics to st1100's and last year after a short 2 yr break I bought a Deauville 650 and it was a struggle rebuilding it and when complete this year I had to admit to the missus I didn't like it as it was like a farm machine and not a bit like the cbr600fk I had years ago something I still hankered after so to cut a long story short I bought a 1989 red white blue 600fk last week had it sent by courier from Bristol to me in Hull and it's striped now on my bike ramp for rebuild. As always seems to be the case the truth about it's last use may have been on the conservative side and I doubt it has seen the road in a couple of years although it is tidy the only ****le is there was no water in the cooling system so I'll have to get it running to find out why but at the moment oil dropped, carbs off and checking everything over from compression to spark etc etc. Updates to follow for people less mechanically minded later and I'll put some pics up I'd especially like to find people on the site with a interest in the early cbr's ( The best ones ) just saying! but for now HELLO FROM HULL> ps. kept the Deauville for use while cbr gets rebuilt I should add my thanks to Henry cole's tv show over lockdown for re enthusing my interest in Bikes and getting the missus onside too

Welcome and thanks for all the info! We'll let your extremely biased comment about the early CBR's being the best slide... for now.

@131commando Welcome to the forum. That's a great intro, and sounds like you've got the right stuff for hanging around here. There's plenty of information here on the site for the original CBR600F's. Also plenty of them still on the road with enthusiastic riders as well. Looking forward to seeing some of the progress photos.
