Hello every one I'am new to the game and I have alot of question's
What's the good thing about having a honda from all the other's except they cost more some one make me understand. I want a sport bike like a cbr rr but the 600cc is to small of a bike for me. The bike frame is to short and to narrow. I'am 6 ft 200 lb on the medium bulit side. I went to the dealer and sat on that 600 and it was ok.I even took my wife with me the second time and she said to me that 600cc is to small.I tried all the 600cc and the only I she said that look ok was the kawi 636 2005 but I'am here to figure why should I choose honda over kawi .What honda have to give that I am not getting from kawi and I hate the kawi LCD screen it suck's. I tried the 1000 rr and that was better for me more room it felt a lot better than the 600. Now speed is not the issue even tho the 1000 have a lot to go around but it about being comfortable. I am 31 I took the msf class I have my license and t hve rode some dirt bike and three wheeler. I have a lot of friends that ride's and since I want to go new, I want a bike that I am going to keep for a long time and not trade it in because I need more power when I'am ready for the power it will be there. I figure take it easy learn you're bike then you are on youre own.A new rider or a old rider still have to learn the bike there are going to ride. So as a new rider with no saddle time should I choose a 600cc are a 1000cc. Should I buy something used but the cost for a used bike in good condition like a 2000 or better is almost the same as a brand new bike, or should I go buy something old for now to get some saddle time then get what I really want either a 600cc or a 1000cc. I do'nt want to buy someone else's junk or problem's.
That bein the case you`ve asnwered your own question, go for the 1000RR. To answer the question of why Honda all i can tell you is why i chose them, you`ll have to make your own mind up.
The reason I got the 1000RR and not an R1 was just because of build quality I use my bike all year in all weathers and I want it to last.
The reason the choice was between the 1000RR and the R1 was because when i test rode them i felt the 1000RR n R1 where the bikes that could use all there power easiest.
You may say the new gsxr has more power than the 1000RR but of what use is that 160hp when your fighting to keep the front wheel down all the time. Same story with the ZX-10 Ninja. So for me I bought the Honda, Civilised when you want it to be, an animal when you want to use all 152hp (at the wheel, I dyno tested mine) But while others are struggling to fight the bike I can just use all the power when I want, If i want to wheelie it does, if i want to keep the front down it does.
So thats why for me.

Hi, i'll be 32 soon. i spent 9 years on dirt machines, the last one was an '86 ktm 80. i rode the other 4 japanese bikes, each one had a single great characteristic. yamaha: great low-mid power. suzuki: great suspension. kawi: mid-top end power, bigger frame. honda: (the exception) seemed to have a great everything and quality. at the time, however, my ktm was factory acerbis plastics, white bros. suspension and three ring piston, oh! and 38mm dellorto carburator gave the little bike a top-end from hell. SO, i chose the honda streetbike for overall quality, comfort, useable power/mild manors (until you hit 7500rpm.) and #1 reason, brand recognition, honda has always had a great reputation for building good stuff. and for your size, definately would go for the larger bikes. it doesn't have to be brand new either, shop around. you may not keep the bike forever or a long time. it could just scare the **** out of you and make you second guess the fun factor verses your wife and your life. these things are no dirt bikes. these things are nasty and vicious once you get up on the cams' sweet spot.

Here's my 2 cents...I've ridden Kawi for a few years, never ever would get on a Yammi, and Gixxer is just too unpredictable outside of 5k-7.5k rpm (although it kicks *** in moto gp). I got Honda for the same reasons our other family members did. Reliability, dependability, quality, endurance, ergonomics, satisfaction, resell value, etc.. We can go on forever. Honda has put out great products since day one and will back anything they put on the showroom floor. It's easy to learn the feel of a Honda where as the others are not as smoothe running in 0-60, idle, shifting and comfort. But take heed to the other family members. You may jump on a 1k and wish you hadn't for not having much of any experience on crotch rockets. Honda will hug the road and perform like a champ. But get the wrong size, and it could make a body cast hug you just as well. I am on a Marine base in NC and see a lot of Yammi's.......for sale. I've never seen a Honda on the sale lot. Honda is for life. Stay safe and stay up!
I'm sitting here at work when I read this post, and I had to reply....
Bandit, I'm 5'11 and 230 (35yrs old) and I know what u are referring to. I rode a Katana 600 for a year and 3/4 and loved every minute of it. I must say it was a little small for me too, but I tell u what.. There is a HUGE HUGE difference between riding a dirt bike and a street ride. The biggest difference is the obsticles that you have to avoid. IE- oil, debris on the roads, cages, and even some squids. If you don't have this valuble experience when considering buying a litre bike your putting yourself in harms way. This is why I say that.. Your considering buying a bike that is 180bhp, with experience on a dirtbike with maybe 30bhp. Now I LOVED riding yz250's and they would wheelie in every gear!! So much fun, but a wreck in dirt is waaaaaay different than on asphalt. My goodness.. No comparison. You want the power on tap so u won't get bored? Dude, I wasn't bored with my 600 when I sold it. I was only getting more bold, taking turns faster and more precise, and finding more and more twisty roads to lean on the bike for more peformance. Total fun. Most people don't truly understand how much power a 1k bike really has, so take some hard core advice. Find a 600 that is comfortable and stick with it for a while. If u take care of it, you can sell it for pretty close to what u bought it for and get that new ride. When it comes to cruisers I wouldn't have said much if u were buying a 750 or even a 1k cruiser, but a 1k sportbike is insane. Read this review on some 1k bikes and think hard of your decision. Remeber, controlling your wrist is a bunch of BS. If you have the power on tap, you WILL try it. On a litre bike if your not ready for it, your in a bad bad situation. Remeber new 1k bikes are over 100mph in first gear these days. Wheelies all the way up to 4th gear is normal, and that includes in the turns, and some bikes are known to give u a little headshake if u land them anything less than perfect. (ESP the Kawi) The Kawi zx10r is a EXPERT rider only bike. Read the fine print on their website.
By the way, the Katana is actually pretty comfortable!!!
