Greetings from Alaska
I just registered today because I've been reading several forums on the Honda CBR-1000, and I enjoy reading this group the most.
Last Friday I put a deposit down on a 2006, all black, CBR-1000 at our Honda Dealership (in Anchorage). The floor model will arrive here in November, then my bike should arrive by the end of March, 2006. Hardly matters since the we typically have snow on the group well through March!
Currently I have a 2005 Ducati Monster 2SR and a 2005 Suzuki DL-1000 (V-Strom) which I will be trading in on the CBR-1000 when it arrives. I had a very hard time deciding between the CBR-1000 and the GSX-R1000. A friend of mine just bought a used 2005 Gixxer and I've ridden it twice (he is a kind and generous person!). It's a mind-altering experience but I finally choose the Honda because of its reputation for workmanship and reliability. Plus, and this shouldn't be important... but... I think the 2006 CBR-1000 is just so much better looking
I'm also hoping that the reduced weight and engine improvements for 2006 will reduce the performance gap between the CBR-1000 and the GSX-R1000.
No demo rides on new motorcycles up here and I've never ridden a CBR-1000. Anybody have any insights on what the differences may be between the Honda CBR-1000 and the Suzuki GSX-R1000?
Thanks... Doug Brown.

Congratulations on getting your RR, sorry you have to wait until next year
. The antisipation ought to drive you crazy. You will be very happy with your choice. Though the Gixxer is the King Dick, the RR will be a better road bike. You don't not see many wrecked RR's, can't say that about Gixxers or R1's. Those two are teriffic bikes but they bite back hard, whilst the RR will keep you untaxed & relaxed at the end of your ride... which of course will be mind altering in its own way.
Cheers

Hi Whippet Goode,
Thanks for the feedback... I have read that the RR is fairly comfortable for its type and sitting on one in the showroom, it seems almost as comfortable as my Monster, with the clip-ons much lower, of course. Interesting point about how many RRs you see (hear about) crashed compared to Gixxers or R1s. I think thats pretty much my experience... interesting!
Thanks, Doug Brown.
