Hello and welcome to the forum. Once you've passed, keep safe. Nice bike, I've been looking into the 1000rr and if I can find the right one then that will be added to the soon to be growing list.

Unless you're out west in the mountains, I'd say Maryland is mild enough that you should be able to ride through the winter. But whenever we get snow here, I like to wait for a rainfall to wash away the road salt, since hitting a pile of that stuff can cause a skid.

Once you get a little experience with your bike, you'll know about how many miles you get per tankful, and you can use the trip odometer to know how far you've gone since filling up.

Can't help you on the revs, since I have carbs and a manual choke.

Ride safe. That's a beautiful bike and it seems like you got a deal on it!

as for the chain stuff I'd recommend PJ1 clear nonstick. I know honda recommends gear oil or whatever, but I can't get enough of the PJ1 stuff. Should be able to grab it at a local cycle gear.

I have only got to ride 3 days before I had to leave for school but so far so good. It does have alot of power (I have only gotten it up to 6k rpms). and top speed of about 50 mph so far. It seems pretty easy to control and has a comfortable riding position. As for a good starter bike its going to depend on who you talk to. I feel as of right now it works for me, some will say too much power...
