Default Fixed: corroded fuel pump control switch.

Hi guys. I just wanted to introduce myself quickly; my name is Florian , 31 years old and I live near Amsterdam. I own a 99' CBR 600F4 and it is an absolute blast to ride. I got it in February after finally acquiring my license back in November (I've been wanting to do this for ages).
It was all fun and games until my bike decided to stall midway on my comute home from work. I immediately suspected it to be a fuel problem because it gave no early warning signs like rough idling or misfiring.
The only big fear I had was my cam chain had skipped a cog because I just replaced the tensioner. I drove like 300 km afterwards so it wouldn't make much sense but still...

I went to work on the bike after calling the bike shop who told me i had to wait dor three weeks before I could have her fixed.

I checked the fuel lines and the fuel pump and noticed that the pump wouldnt prime correctly, it did something but it just sounded like it farted. I took of the protection cap and found the control switch completely eroded. I got a new control switch from the shop I called earlier, these guys where extremely helpful, showed me how to install the new thing and all.
I went on to fixing the pump and installing it again and... still no running engine. I was about to burn the whole thing down.
But i came back the next day to check if the pumped fuel to the carbs, which it didn't; it pulled a slight vaccuum instead.
I switched the hoses up and she was running again!
I still need to replace a couple of the old fuel linings because of all disconnecting and connecting of these ancient rubber linings caused a bit of a fuel leak.

Next up is tensioning the drive chain and checking the sprockets.

Here are some pics of my bike and the corroded fuelpump controller!

Greetings & Salurations!!!

very nice bike! Don't see many good F4 in U.S. because most of them have been destroyed stunting!

Good job on repairing pump! May want to investigate replacing mechanical controller with solid-state electronic one next. Hopefully before this one fails. Much more reliable than original mechanical type.

Thanks for the tip! At first I wanted to replace the entire pump but the bike shop mentioned they had one of these mechanical switches, I got it for 30 euros so that saved me a of money.
I'm looking into some mods I can add to it like a KN airfilter, steel brake linings and maybe change up my sprockets so it has more lower end torque.
any tips will be much appreciated!

Skip K&N filter, won't make much difference in flow, but will increase wear tremendously.

If you want more power, look into full exhaust and dyno-tuning. Most powerful mixture is 13.5:1 AFR on NA engines. Target 13.0:1 for safety margin in case you get bad petrol on hot day. Have fun!
