Fuel pump leaking
Hi guys,
I would like to know if somebody can help me with this issue:
I have changed fuel filter, and since then through the fuel pump drain some fuel has started to leak; never has happened before.
New fuel filter is "Honda China" version. Is the one I could get in the nearest shop. Is quite similar to the stock one, with same size, but it differs to the stock coz it hasn't got the aluminup cap, is just made of plastic.
Is not the only thing Im doing on my bike, so maybe could be the consequence of something else.
Also, I would like to ask how does this drain goes routed, since I pull out the fuel pump and I can't find it on the service diagram drawings.
Best regards,
Lisandro

Fuel pump stopped working. I have connected a hose from the fuel tank directly to the carbs and the bike started running.
The fuel pump was extremely hot.
I have read about replacing the complete switch on the pump, but I don't know if this would be the solution.
Does anybody know how can I check this?
A new replacement pump is much more expensive that just replacing the switch, but if the switch dosen't work?? How can I know if its the switch, or the problem is something else in the pump?
Help me guys, Im a South American newbie.
Cheers,
Lisandro

Ok guys, I've been searching for this issue and finally I have found on a spanish language forum something that makes sense, helped me to decide, and maybe is going to help somebody else with the same problem and determination.
The pump itself has a membrane inside, and what apparently has happened on my bike, that first started leaking fuel and then the pump overheated and stopped working, is that that membrane might have a puncture that allowed fuel to get through and at the same time soaked the switch.
I have read a thread where a guy posted that, and after making it repair twice, he finally decided to buy a new pump and problem was solved.
So in my case, buying the switch won't help, as the fuel leak adviced me where the problem first was.
Hope this helps somebody else.
Cheers,
Lisandro
